The Mega Millions jackpot keeps growing! It is now up to $820 million after no one won on Friday night.
If someone wins in the next drawing, which is Tuesday, they could opt for the cash option or the annuity option. The immediate cash option is currently at $422 million; the annuity option distributes the larger amount ($820 million currently) over 29 annual payments. Most lottery winners choose the one-time lump sum cash payment; final amount depending on state and federal taxes.
The chances of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 302 million. The last time the jackpot was won was April 18.
Here's a look at the winning numbers for Friday, which could've gotten someone $370.5 million in cash.
Mega Millions winning numbers: July 21, 2023
The winning numbers for Friday night's drawing were 29, 40, 47, 50, 57 and the Mega Ball 25. The Megaplier was 2X.
Did anyone win Mega Millions last night?
No one matched all six numbers to win the Mega Millions jackpot.
Eight people matched all five white balls to win Mega Millions' $1 million (or $4 million with the Megaplier) prizes Tuesday. Thousands of people won the game's smaller prize tiers.
The next drawing will occur on July 25 at 10 p.m. CT and is an estimated $820 million with a cash option of $422.0 million, according to megamillions.com.
How to play Mega Millions
When purchasing a Mega Millions ticket, you have the opportunity to select six numbers. The first five will be chosen from a range of 1 to 70 for the white balls, and the last number will be chosen from 1 to 25 for the coveted golden Mega Ball. For those who may find it daunting to pick their own numbers, the option to select Easy Pick or Quick Pick is available, which will generate the numbers for your ticket at random.
When playing in certain states, you can choose to add a Megaplier for an additional dollar. This decision could increase your non-jackpot winnings by a factor of 2, 3, 4 or 5 times.
