There are few things that can upstage the most prominent MLB players, but their four-legged furry friends often do. After Los Angeles Dodgers' newest star Shohei Ohtani recently reached a shocking record-breaking $700 million, 10-year deal, the biggest question on everyone's mind was, "What is the name of his dog?"
During Ohtani's initial press conference with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ohtani disclosed that his Dutch Kooikerhondje dog’s American name is Decoy. Decoy was first spotted with Ohtani in his acceptance speech after winning the 2023 American League Most Valuable Player, making him the first player to earn two unanimous MVP Awards.
This is not the first time that dogs have stolen the spotlight from their famous owners, putting their humans on the back burner. Here are some of MLB's most marvelous dogs who have been in the limelight before.

San Francisco Giants Jung-Hoo Lee's dog Koa
The San Francisco Giants have signed outfielder Jung-Hoo Lee to a six-year deal worth $113 million. Lee is considered to be one of the best players in the Korea Baseball Organization. As he relocates from South Korea to San Francisco, he will be accompanied by a furry friend, the 25-year-old star making it clear that he is a packaged deal.

New York Yankees Aaron Judge’s dog Gus
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge has a small four-legged campaign that is often seen in the outfield of Yankee Stadium for some pre-game warmups. Gus Judge may be small in stature but has no problem keeping up with his MVP owner.
Texas Rangers Max Scherzer four dogs
Max Scherzer, the pitcher for the Texas Rangers, and his wife Erica May-Scherzer have adopted four dogs and are huge dog lovers. One of their furry friends, Bo, caught their attention because he has a unique eye condition similar to Max's, with one blue eye and one brown eye. Scherzer is a strong advocate for adopting pets from local shelters and frequently shows his support for the cause on social media.
Houston Astros Justin Verlander's dog
Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander loves his dog so much that he allows him to sit in the front seat when they are out together. Verlander's brother has shared on social media that the dog is familiar with his pitcher family member and even recognizes him on TV.
Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout's dog
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout and his wife Jessica love their pups so much that they have made an Instagram account focused around the adorable things they do. Juno Trout is a miniature spitz and Josie Trout is a mini Australian Shephard and are not shy on being the center of attention.
